Unity Nonprofit expands to provide Employment Services

In recent months, the United States has experienced a modest increase in the unemployment rate. As of February 2025, the national unemployment rate stands at 4.1%, a slight uptick from 4.0% in January. This trend is mirrored in Prince George's County, Maryland, where the unemployment rate was 3.3% in January 2025, up from 3.1% in December 2024.

In response to these challenges, our organization hosted the Mass Job Fair 2025 on March 15 at the Suitland Community Center. The event attracted 300+ job seekers, 25 volunteers, and featured partnerships with various organizations.

Our primary objective is to create effective pathways to address unemployment by connecting individuals with meaningful employment opportunities.

CEO CORNER

As we close out this month, we reflect on a successful job fair that welcomed nearly 300 participants, partnering employers, and over two dozen volunteers. More importantly, this event shed light on the urgent need for employment opportunities, especially in these challenging times. The rise in job losses has only strengthened our commitment to ensuring our community is not left without support.

In response, we have solidified additional partnerships and launched our Unity Academy entrepreneurship program ahead of schedule. This initiative empowers veterans to leverage their skills and create additional income on their own terms.

I continue to be proud of our team and our supporters. Your support—whether through financial contributions or volunteerism—allows us to carry out this vital work, ensuring that no veteran is left behind.
